Here is the finished Hemlock blanket which is a Christmas gift for my step-son and his wife who just moved to upstate New York from Vancouver. I imagine it will be a bit cooler than the climate they are used to so I knit them this blanket to cuddle under while watching movies. To go along with the blanket will be a copy of the fantastic film Young at Heart - a very fun and touching documentary about a group of seniors who have a great time together singing rock and punk music (have a look at some of the youtube videos for a preview of their repertoire).
The blanket was very fun to knit although near the end with almost 600 stitches on the needle, it did get a wee bit boring. Once it came off the needles it looked like a knitted amoeba but the blocking fixed all that and it turned out lovely, just as planned.

That's some fancy binding off. I would have been tempted to do a crocheted border, it looks a lot like that. It's definitely a work of art and sure to impress and keep them warm all winter long, what a wonderful gift.
Oh my goodness Michell, you are knitting up a storm at the moment! This is stunning!
Wow that looks lovely. I keep seeing these blankets everywhere, might have to try it one day. Yours is a great colour
